Button button who's got the button?

Have I got the button for you!
I hope I have found friends out there who are as crazy about vintage buttons as I am.
But what does one do with these marvelous treasures ?
Embellish with them.
If sewing them isn't your thing then gluing might work for you.
Personally I'm a purist and could never glue a button on anything.
Thread is my best friend!
I have searched high and low for the most beautiful of buttons.
Finding the best one at the very bottom of grannies button tin.
I have bought I don't know how many button tins at yard sales.
You can too! Doesn't matter where you live!  Guaranteed your town has them too.
I rarely find very good ones at antique stores and the reason for this is that most dealers pick out the GOOD ones and leave the rest for sale.  However, every once in a while I find a nice jar  that has not been scrounged through.
Of course you may end up like me with so many buttons you will never use them in three lifetimes.
But it really is the hunt that gives me that old adrenaline high.
I found early on that to find a handful of really great buttons you must grub through several hundred.
And I say grub because some of these button tins are old and full of....well ...dirt really.
I usually wash most of my buttons with a few exceptions.  These are wood metal and cellulose mostly.
So get out there Newbie button collectors!
Hit the pavement and find those long lost button beauties!
